Our Mission Statement:
We affirm the dignity of human life of the sick and the elder members of the southern Illinois faith community through a spiritual, sacramental, educational and pastoral ministry.
Since July 12, 1974, we have had the privilege to minister to and with some very special people: patients of Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL, and of Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL which opened in 2017. Residents and staff of Belleville/O'Fallon, IL, area assisted living and long term care facilities. In recent years this Ministry has continued to grow, now including not only ministry to the sick and dying, and our Elders in Long-Term care facilities, but also persons with disabilities, bereavement ministry as well as providing a variety of educational opportunities in each of these areas.
We wish to acknowledge with gratitude all the individuals and organizations who have supported this Ministry from its beginning. Bishops Albert R. Zuroweste, William Cosgrove, Stan Schlarman, John Wurm, James Keleher, Wilton Gregory, Edward Braxton, and Michael McGovern have each shown their continuing support of this Ministry. We and those we serve are truly grateful.
We are also grateful to the many Staff and Advisory Board Members who have served us over the years.
Now in our fifth decade of service, the Ministry to Sick & Aged (MSA) continues to provide the same quality of ministry to the People of God for which it was established, while at the same time turning our attention to the ever "graying" Church and our ministerial response to that new Church.
God bless each and every one of you wherever life's journey may take us. May we continue to be a Living Christ to our Elders, the infirmed, persons with disabilities and the bereaved.
