Anointing of the Sick

"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ." CCC 1499

Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick:

This sacrament is primarily intended for any who suffer from serious or chronic physical pain, emotional illnesses or who struggle with the infirmities of age.  One need not be in danger of death, nor does the Church anoint someone who has already died.  Those scheduled for surgery or a serious hospitalization may wish to request this sacrament prior to entering the hospital.

IN CASE OF DEATH: Although the Church does not anoint one who has already died, the priest may be invited to minister to the family and lead the prayers at the time of death as provided by the Church.

FOR PARENTS OF A STILLBORN OR NATURALLY ABORTED INFANT: Please call the parish office for more information at 618-537-2575.
